Pollination Garden at Sitka Daycare Centers June 2018

Upon hearing about the Pollinator Project, the Sitka Daycare Center was ecstatic to add a pollinator-friendly aspect to their backyard. After fundraising throughout the 2018 spring season, the “Port Moody Secondary Pollinator Project” was ready to dive into their first team project.

Thanks to Mahzad Yeganeh, the head educator at the Sitka Daycares, we had one of the most intriguing planting experiences to date! We originally planned to use the unoccupied raised garden beds present in the Daycare. Unfortunately, these beds contained the gardeners worst nightmare: root infested soil. Though this may have discouraged some, The Port Moody Secondary students perceived this as a grand opportunity to exercise their creativity. After coordinating with the daycare, the students decided to situate some of the pollinators in a beautiful arrangement of tires – a commodity that the daycare seemed to have an excess of!

This following blueprint was created prior to the amendments mentioned above. If requested, our creative team will upload the layout of the present set-up.
